Let There Be Light!

Our master bedroom is officially about 50 times lighter than it was yesterday. (Thanks to my Dad, who painted all day!)  After much deliberation and three paint samples later, I finally decided on a fourth color! ;)  We went with Palladian Blue by Benjamin Moore, and we love it! :)

Here's a reminder of how our yummy dark chocolate bedroom looked before:

And here's our bright, happy room now!

I also decided to add a diaper station since we change approximately 139 diapers a day on our bed. ;)

We still plan to add crown molding, artwork, and more pillows.  Also, I'm most likely going to paint the mirror over our bed white.  But it'll look like this for at least another week or so because I'm switching to party planning mode now!  I have to get ready for Blake's 2nd birthday party this Saturday!  Anyway, we already love how much brighter it is in here, and I can't wait to add the finishing touches! :)

The Master Bedroom Enlightenment

So, after meeting with our realtor, we came to the conclusion that it was not in our best interest to try and sell our home at this point in time.  We had mixed feelings about selling anyway, and we do love this house, so we'll be staying put for a while longer. :)  Our realtor did recommend that we repaint our master bedroom before we list our home, and even though that won't be anytime soon, we're going to go ahead and do it now so we can enjoy it until we move.  And, we're both kind of tired of our super dark bedroom and are ready for something lighter and brighter. :)  Here's our bedroom from the dark ages.  The paint color is Mink by Benjamin Moore.

And here's the inspiration picture for our fresh master bedroom makeover!  This gorgeous bedroom is from Studio Ten 25, and the paint color is Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams.

I bought a paint sample tonight, Sauna by Valspar.  I'll post pictures as soon as I've put it on the wall! :)  I'm crazy excited and can't wait to get started!

Also, I mentioned our realtor, Dayla Brooks.  She's pretty much amazing!  If you or anyone you know needs a realtor, be sure to look her up! :)  http://www.hrmls.com/dayla

Caution: Wet Paint

The nursery has finally been painted!  My sweet sister Chelsey did all of the cutting in and Daddy and Grandpa finished the rest. :)  Blake also used his mini roller to "help" work on his little brother's nursery. ;)  Such a great helper already! :)  This is the original color, Benjamin Moore's Nantucket Fog, which we really liked.  However, it didn't go with the new scheme for Cole's nursery. :)

After much deliberation, we ended up choosing Benjamin Moore's Silver Fox:

Here are a few pictures I snapped today while the room was still torn apart. :)

Right now this bookshelf is loaded down with goodies from the shower, but this won't be the permanent decor. ;)

The paint is a wonderful "greige", and as you can tell it looks a little different in each picture.  Sometimes a little more gray, sometimes a little more beige.  Silver fox is definitely an appropriate name. :)

We love the new paint color, and I can't wait to start decorating this week! :)

Nursery Progress

So, we made some progress today on the long list of items we need to accomplish in the next 4 weeks!  We returned Cole's crib and ordered Blake's toddler bed.  We also finally made a decision and purchased paint.  We ended up deciding against the navy and going with a neutral.  I know, boring, right? ;)  But I think it will look great when it's all done!  One of the main reasons we decided to go neutral is that we plan on putting our house up for sale in August, and thought the neutral would be more appealing to potential buyers than navy.  Also, the nursery is not a huge room, so the dark paint would have made it appear even smaller.  Anyway, once we decided to go neutral, I browsed some of my favorite neutral nurseries for some color inspiration.  I finally narrowed it down to four choices:

(Benjamin Moore Pashmina)

(Benjamin Moore Silver Fox)

(Behr Wheat Bread)

(Benjamin Moore Sailcloth)

Which one is your favorite? :)

My wonderful sister, Chelsey, is coming in tomorrow to visit and is going to help Josh paint the nursery!  I can't wait!  Hopefully I'll have a few pictures to share by Saturday! :)

I've Got the Blues

It's not because it was twenty degrees cooler today than the beautiful weather we had yesterday.  It's not even because I spent our life savings at the outlets today. ;)  No, I have the paint chip blues!  I am having a terrible time deciding which color to go with.  So, I bought a sample of Benjamin Moore's Old Navy:

Here it is in our guest room:

And now I'm even more indecisive because I don't love it.  I don't hate it either, I just think it might be too dark.  This picture was taken early in the day and it still looks extremely dark even with a ton of natural light coming in.  So, now I'm leaning more towards Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik:

What do you guys think? :)

Favorite Paint Colors

I recently helped my sister choose paint colors for her first home.  So much fun!  Their painter uses Sherwin Williams paint, so we broke out the swatch books and went to work!  We chose Sherwin Williams Tidewater for her kitchen and dining room, and I cannot wait to see the results!  I will definitely be sharing before and after pictures when it's done!  Here are photos from a gorgeous living room painted in one of my new favorite colors. :)

Gorgeous, don't you think? :)

Choosing Paint Colors

So, after making the decision to paint Cole's nursery navy, I'm finding myself very tempted to crawl back into my comfort zone and leave it the color it is. :)  However, I almost did navy blue with Blake but chickened out, so I'm going to do it this time!  Now the hard part is choosing which navy blue to go with.  I've pretty much narrowed it down to three choices.

Benjamin Moore Old Navy
This one seems like a true dark navy, without any purple undertones.  I'm just worried that it might be a little dark.

Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik
I like this one, but it's not a classic navy.  The paint swatch is much lighter than the other two, and I'm worried that it might look too faded.

Benjamin Moore Stunning
I love the way this one looks here, but I'm worried it might also be too dark.

Here are two swatches from the bedding with some of the paint choices.  Indigo Batik is on the very bottom and Old Navy is directly above it.

What do you guys think?  One of these three?  Or should I keep searching?  Or sprint back into my little comfort zone? ;)
